September was the lowest gaming income for Macau in six months.
After reaching a record high of MOP17.21bn in August, Macau's total market income fell 13.2%. Also, since April, when Macau made MOP14.72m, this was the lowest monthly figure.
Nonetheless, compared to MOP2.96bn in September of previous year, the current amount was 404.2% higher. Reason being, temporary shutdown of casinos in accordance with COVID-19 procedures in Macau affected 2022 numbers.
The government's "zero-Covid" policy was loosened in response to countrywide demonstrations that opposed its harshness and duration. The number of planes into China is now unlimited, and quarantine is no longer a need for visitors from outside the country.
Revenue in Macau hits MOP80.14bn in the first half
Overall, Macau's gaming income hit MOP80.14bn in the first half of the year. Compared to the six months ending in June of last year, this was 205.1% lower.
By the way, new concessions for regional gaming operators were launched during the first half of the year.
For the concessions, seven people put their names forward. The following were among the participants: Genting Malaysia, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Las Vegas Sands, MGM Resorts International, Melco Resorts, SJM Resorts, and Wynn Resorts.
The six operators who were previously established in Macau were selected, resulting in Genting being denied a concession.
Starting on January 1, new concessions will be available until December 31, 2032.
